Price shocks waiting as US abandons helium business

“Helium usage elsewhere has continued to rise, though, driven in part by its artificially low price. Even with the lower rate of use, however, we’ll go through the remaining supply within a century.”

Funny how something as trivial as a party balloon uses such a scarce resource.

Today I am a part of the future

Microsoft released this video of their vision of the future a year or so ago:

Today, I’m happy to say that I am a part of that future. See the engineer working from his electronic paper at his home in the mountains:

It may not be actual electronic paper and it may not be my house in the mountains, but it sure feels like the future.
